BRG Vietgolf U16
BRG plans to take children aged 8-15 (U16) from all walks of life and introduce them to golf. BRG will start with on-range sessions at BRG Ruby Tree in the Hai Phong area and BRG Kings Island in Hanoi. PGA Directors of Golf Evans Mahoney and Talyer Kimura are arranging these.
We have set 3 major goals:
1.Produce a Vietnam amateur champion by 2018;
2.Produce children good enough to represent Vietnam in an Asian Games circa 2020; and
3.Produce a Vietnamese player good enough to compete on a major tour (Asian, European, US) by 2025.
Our objectives
•Attract young people of Vietnam to the game of golf:
•Generally, grow the participation in golf throughout Vietnam;
•Offer young people who would not normally have the chance opportunity to try / play golf; and
•Find our nations hidden golf talent and develop them under BRG Vietgolf U16 Junior Golf Team.
Eventually children will be able to play free at BRG Ruby Tree at off peak times and on school holidays. And, as BRG acquire more golf courses in different regions of Vietnam BRG will further extend the program.
We are only limited by time required to achieve such a massive goal. The goal itself is to offer a golf experience large or small to all children and to perpetuate this vision indefinitely.
Intake will be grown over a number of phases.
Our immediate plan is to make contact with and introduce golf to at least 5,000 children living and attending schools in the Hai Phong area adjacent to BRG Ruby Tree Golf Resort by end December 2015 and with a similar numeric goal for children in Hanoi surrounding BRG Kings Island Resort.
BRG is committed to this program offered at BRG facilities with support from Nicklaus as BRG develops the Nicklaus Golf Academies and more Nicklaus Design golf courses with Nicklaus as a vital strategic partner. The involvement with government will be through the Sports & Education Department with whom BRG already has good relations and who BRG respect as valued advisors.
